Sietske Bakker, PhD
Principal Scientist at Genmab
Speaker

Profile

Sietske Bakker earned her PhD at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, focusing on cancer and genomic integrity in the Fanconi Anemia pathway in the lab of Hein te Riele. She specialized in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), DNA repair, and aging at UCSF (San Francisco, CA), studying mouse HSCs and DNA repair disruption in the lab of Emmanuelle Passgué. Later, as a staff scientist in Alan Ashworth's lab at UCSF's Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, she led compound and CRISPR screens in patient-derived cell lines for DNA repair pathways and synthetic lethality. At Genmab, she established the Functional and Screening Technology team, overseeing functional screens and supporting discovery initiatives. Over the past four years, she has led phenotypic screening projects and developed a cell painting platform to investigate novel antibody Mechanisms of Action (MoA) in tumor cell lines and primary human immune cells.
