Profile
Jun Young Choi is currently Head of R&D at ST Pharm, and he joined ST Pharm in 2021. He earned his BS degree in Chemistry from Yonsei University in 1992 and Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from KAIST with Prof. Yong Hae Kim in 1997, and MBA in Health Sector from Boston University in 2018. He pursued his post-doctoral works at UIUC with Prof. Scott Denmark (1997-1999) and at Purdue University with Prof. Rich Borch (2005-2007). His recent process development career over 10 years was focused on nucleic acid chemistry including modified nucleotide prodrugs, oligonucleotides and mRNA capping reagents. He has more than 20 years of industrial experience, including Hanwha Chemical, Synta Pharmaceuticals, Idenix Pharmaceuticals, and Nitto Denko Avecia. He co-authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications as well as a number of patents.
