Morten Sogaard, Ph.D., is President and Division Head of Research and Technical Operations at Astellas Gene Therapies. In this role, Morten oversees Research and non-GMP CMC, with a goal to deliver two candidates per year. Morten’s team also oversees construction and operation of Astellas' new Research facility, opening in San Francisco in 2023.

Morten has over 25 years of industry experience. Prior to Astellas, he led Target Sciences and Genome Sciences at Pfizer as a member of the R&D Leadership Team. Morten received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Copenhagen and completed postdoctoral studies at MSKCC, New York.
