Speaker

Profile

Aymen Al-Shamkhani is a Professor of Immunology at the Centre for Cancer Immunology at the University of Southampton, UK. His team is investigating receptors and signalling pathways that regulate T cell responses with a focus on developing strategies that promote anti-tumour immunity. Key areas of interest in his laboratory concern the immunobiology of costimulatory receptors, including members of the TNF receptor superfamily as well as the development of antibody therapies that target these receptors. In addition to fundamental studies on T cell activation, there are ongoing studies on the characterisation of immune responses in human solid cancers that aim to understand mechanisms of immune evasion and resistance to immunotherapy.
