Kim Askew, Ph.D., serves as Director of Pharmacology at Translate Bio, and is responsible for evaluating the pharmacology of potential drug candidates and the potential impact of results on clinical and regulatory strategies. Prior to joining Translate Bio, Dr. Askew was Director of Preclinical Pharmacology at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she led the company’s preclinical pharmacology team, acted as a Project Team leader, and served as the nonclinical functional lead on late stage development teams. Dr. Askew also served as Director of Program and Alliance Management at Synageva Biopharma where she created a cross-functional team to develop project plans for multiple assets. During her time at Synageva, she also built and led the pharmacology team to produce packages for 2 IND filings. Her professional career includes over 20 years of pharmaceutical and biotech industry experience, primarily in early discovery activities, including the design, generation and characterization of genetic models of human disease for target validation and testing of potential therapeutic proteins. Dr. Askew earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from Northwestern University.
