Joanna RejmanAssociate Director Neurologic and Pulmonary Diseases at CureVac AG
Joanna Rejman graduated at the University of Wroclaw. She was granted a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship to perform a postdoctoral research project on lipid-mediated cell transfection at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in the group of Prof. Hoekstra. Two years later she joined the group of Prof. Conese in the research institute of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan (Italy). She continued her research in the field of gene and cell therapy at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Gent (Belgium). There she was also involved in projects on the development of noninvasive methods to image migration and survival of stem cells in vivo. She was employed in the Biophotonic group of Philipps University of Marburg. Her main scientific interests in academia included noninvasive cell labeling, (transient) modification of cell functions, and understanding the processes involved in internalization, intracellular trafficking, processing, and potential toxic effects of nanoparticles. She has joined CureVac in 2016 where she is responsible for projects aiming at efficient and safe delivery on mRNA based therapeutics to the eye and lung.
