Chris van der Walle obtained his PhD in peptide chemistry from King’s College London, where he was subsequently awarded a Maplethorpe Fellowship. He moved to the University of Oxford to study cell-matrix interactions before taking up lectureships at the Universities of Bath and later Strathclyde, becoming a Reader and implementing a new MRes course in Drug Delivery. In 2012, he joined MedImmune in the Formulations Sciences group and is now Director-Fellow in the Drug Delivery group at AstraZeneca. He has published over 80 research articles, reviews and book chapters and edited ‘Peptide and Protein Delivery’, published by Elsevier. His research interests include supramolecular chemistry, peptide and protein formulation, and nanoparticulate carriers for nucleic acid therapeutics.
