Watch the highlights of PCT 2016 in Vienna

Over 1000 attendees from the clinical trial community gathered in Vienna for Partnerships in Clinical Trials Europe 2016. The agenda focussed on patient centricity, disruptive innovation and collaboration, as well as featuring five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave as an inspirational speaker.

With an excellent speaker line-up including sponsors, CROs, site investigators and patients, the conference provided a platform for open discussion, debate and knowledge exchange.

"The largest event in this area in Europe. Well planned and organized. Everyone is there!"

"It was the most interesting event during this year in the field of clinical trials"

"The event is superbly organised by a really great team. The range of topics covered is totally relevant and the speakers excellent with plenty of time for Q and A. Well done."

What was discussed in 2016 and what will the be the focus for 2017?

Patient Centricity: PCT 2016 allowed industry to hear directly from patients

We were honoured to have some really inspiring patients at PCT 2016 including Lisa from PRA, Matthew Zachary, CEO of Stupid Cancer, Virgil Simmons, Founder of Prostate Net, and Toby Peach, The Euology of Toby Peach.

A real take home message from listening to such speakers was that patients need to be listened to and trials need to be personalised to make patients feel valued. Patients saw being involved in a clinical trial as a lifeline, clearly appreciating the work that industry does.

The Oxford Debate: pharma/biotech that need CROs VS companies that do not outsource

One of the PCT 2016 highlights was the session where two opposing viewpoints were debated. One side  put forward the notion that CROs are vital for clinical trial success and that partnerships between pharma/biotech add great value to all those involved in the trial. The other side put forward a case that it is more effective not to outsource and will showcase the benefits of keeping everything in house. What is your view on this? This topic will be continued in 2017!

The PCT 2017 key theme will be on clinical technology and innovation
