Mollie Hertel, AM, MPP is a Senior Research Scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago. Ms. Hertel has extensive experience in project management, including designing and executing large qualitative and quantitative research studies. At NORC, Mollie leads and contributes to several mixed methods evaluations and qualitative research studies. She specializes in research around Medicaid and access to services for vulnerable populations.
Prior to joining NORC, Mollie worked at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). At GAO, she managed several projects specific to Medicaid payments and beneficiary access in response to Congressional requests. Specifically, she was manager for several projects; including a large, 50-state study examining Medicaid beneficiary’s access to health care services as well as a study on aspects of state’s Medicaid managed care programs. She also contributed to studies examining oral health access for Medicaid and CHIP children, and she managed a project examining federal programs for individuals with serious mental illness. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Service Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Social Welfare from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
