Principal Scientist, Department of Peptide & Protein Chemistry at Novo Nordisk A/S, Denmark
Christian Wenzel Tornøe holds a Ph.D. degree from University of Copenhagen and did most of his graduate work at the Carlsberg Laboratory in Denmark, where he discovered the CuAAC reaction (copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition, original paper cited around 5000 times). Since 2002, he has been involved in medicinal chemistry and industrial drug discovery covering brain diseases and diabetes and obesity research. After working with small molecules for 8 years, he moved to peptide drug research where he has worked on multiple targets often utilizing protein synthesis for drug discovery. He is the author or co-author of 10 peer-reviewed publications and 11 patent applications.
