Melissa Thompson is an entrepreneur, a Patient Advisor at Memorial Sloan Kettering, as well as the author and namesake of Melissa’s Law for Fertility Preservation.

By background, Melissa is a healthcare technologist, strategist, and purveyor of patient-driven innovation. She often bridges the knowledge gaps between institution, vendors and patients, particularly with technology-based solutions.

Melissa is on the Patient and Family Advisor Council for Quality at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a Patient Advisor to the Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies program at the NIH, and sits on the multiple grant review boards.

Her current initiatives at Sloan Kettering include a tech-enabled solution to reduce patient financial toxicity, spearheading the first-ever Patient Innovation Challenge, focused reimagining the end-of-life experience; employing virtual reality in the intensive care setting, and co-creating the “Ambulatory Center of the Future”.

Referred to in WIRED as a “game-changer” by Bill Gates, Melissa works with organizations and governments to highlight, address and solve problems in healthcare.
