Jesse FourtDesign Director at IDEO
Jesse Fourt is a Design Director at IDEO. His hands-on process enables organizations to launch meaningful,
impactful, challenging products. Jesse takes a particular interest in ensuring that great design reaches the
At IDEO since 2000, Jesse has led and engineered a wide range of products including drug delivery devices,
vascular access products, surgical tools, consumer and industrial electronics, furniture, and household goods. He
led teams that designed award winning injection devices for Eli Lilly, including the pen injection device for type 2
diabetes medication Trulicity as well as the autoinjector and prefilled syringe for the Taltz and Emgality
medications, among others. Jesse has led design programs for medication packaging, adherence support services,
starter kits, and other offerings that enhance a person's experience with a medication. Recent highlights outside
of medical products include leading the hardware design of a new voting system for Los Angeles County and
directing an innovation lab developing residential building products.
From 2005 to 2008, Jesse lived and worked in IDEO's Shanghai office, where he helped to build and lead a design
team. From China, Jesse managed design projects for local and global clients, traveled extensively in Asia, and
worked with a diverse range of production partners around the globe.
Prior to joining IDEO, Jesse worked with nickel-titanium alloys. He prototyped medical devices, designed
tooling, and developed a flux and soldering technique for joining Nitinol.
Jesse studied engineering and philosophy at Dartmouth College before earning a master's degree in mechanical
engineering from Stanford University.
