Associate Professor, Bioprocess Engineering at Wageningen University


Dirk Martens is associate professor of Bioprocess Engineering at Wageningen University and Research. He obtained his PhD in Bioprocess Engineering in 1996 on the topic of animal cell culture biotechnology. From 2001 till 2015 he was assistant professor of Bioprocess Engineering on the topics of animal cell culture biotechnology, micro-algal biotechnology and metabolic modelling. Since 2015 he is associate professor of Bioprocess Engineering where his research focusses on process development for the production of pharmaceutical proteins and vaccines using CHO cells and using insect cells in combination with the baculovirus expression system.
