Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at University of Sheffield
David James is Professor of Bioprocess Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Director of the Advanced Biomanufacturing Centre at The University of Sheffield. Graduated from King’s College London with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, followed by postdoctoral research in the University of London, then the University of Kent. He moved to the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2001 as an Associate Professor of Bioengineering, then Professorial Research Fellow in the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. Appointed to a Chair in Bioprocess Engineering at Sheffield in 2006 with a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award. Current research with UK and US biopharma companies is concerned with the functional genomics of mammalian cell factory function, cellular process design and engineering biopharmaceutical production using computational modelling, systems and synthetic biology.
