Steve leads UPSIDE’s analytics, media, and process development teams to produce delicious meat grown directly from animal cells. He translates his expertise in cell line development, process optimization, CMC leadership, due diligence, and regulatory strategy to shape this new industry. Steve began his pharma career with Janssen Biotherapeutics, leading cell line development, analytical, and Fast-to-IND teams. Subsequently, he led cell line/process development, automation, and digitization at Genentech. He received his Molecular Microbiology Ph.D. from Stony Brook University, completed postdoctoral work at Stony Brook and J&J Pharmaceutical R&D, and earned an MBA from Rider University.
