Ed is CTO at Sana Biotechnology, where for the last four years he has led the development of technologies and strategies for engineering cells with therapeutically beneficial properties, both ex vivo and in vivo. Prior to Sana Ed was CTO at Sangamo Therapeutics, where he led the development of zinc finger proteins for therapeutic genome editing and gene regulation. Ed has authored over 60 publications in the development, characterization and application of genome targeting technologies. Ed earned his BS in biochemistry from Rutgers and his PhD in biophysics and structural biology from MIT.
