Julian Morris is Emeritus Professor of Process Control at Newcastle University and the Technical Director of the Centre for Process Analytics and Control Technology (CPACT). He was head of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering from 1990 to 1995 and the first head of the new School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials and has spent some time as Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alberta in Canada. His research interests include process analytical technologies, process diagnostics and condition monitoring, process performance monitoring, and advanced process control and optimisation. He has authored/co-authored over 300 articles in scientific journals, conferences and books, given over 100 invited lectures and 60 Plenary and Keynote presentations. In 2003 he was elected to Fellow of Britain’s Royal Academy of Engineering for his contributions to Process Systems Engineering. In May 2015 readers of the Medicine Maker voted him one of the most influential people in the world working in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
