Scott ElmerDirector, Office of Technology Licensing at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Scott began his career in 1985 working as a plant molecular biologist for 6 years at Monsanto. While at Monsanto, Scott attended law school and graduated in 1992. He spent a year with a private law firm in Washington, D.C., 3 years as in-house patent counsel for Ciba-Geigy in Research Triangle Park and 4 years as assistant general counsel for Ligand Pharmaceuticals in San Diego. In 2001 he moved into his present position as the Director of the Office of Technology Licensing for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. He has a B.S. and Masters degree from the University of Missouri and a law degree from St. Louis University. Scott is a registered patent attorney and a member of the bar of the District of Columbia, California and Tennessee. He has held a number of volunteer positions with AUTM, the Association of University Technology Managers, and currently serves on their Public Policy Task Force.
