James Moore is a Senior Scientist specializing in biocompatibility safety evaluations for medical devices at W. L. Gore and Associates. He received his Ph.D. at the Medical College of Virginia studying cellular mechanisms for induction of angiogenesis and investigated the genetic causes of pancreatic cancer; development of genetic vectors and the molecular basis for vascular growth during postdoctoral work at Duke University.
After joining W. L. Gore in 1991, he worked on medical device therapies to induce endothelial cell seeding of Gore’s vascular grafts; development of an implantable device to protect genetically engineered therapeutic cells from immune rejection for the treatment of diabetes, for which he is a co-inventor on two patents, and assumed his current role as a scientist for biocompatibility evaluations in 2003. He is a member of AAMI working groups for ISO/TC194 and an active participant in the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed).
