Thomas Duhen, Ph.D.

Senior Research Scientist at AgonOx

Dr Duhen obtained his PhD in Oncology from the Université de la Méditerannée, Marseille, France. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Bellinzona, Switzerland in the laboratory of Prof. Federica Sallusto. During this time, he discovered and characterized a new subset of human CD4 T helper (Th) cells, named Th22 cells, that is thought to be involved in skin homeostasis. Next, he worked as a senior post-doctoral fellow at the Benaroya Research Institute in Seattle, USA, in the lab of Dr. Daniel Campbell where his work focused on the identification of new subsets of human regulatory T cells. In addition, he performed some novel work on the antigen-specificity and differentiation of a pro-inflammatory CD4 T cell subset, the Th1/17 cells. Currently, Dr Duhen is a senior research scientist at AgonOx, a small biotechnology company located at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in Portland, USA. At AgonOx, his role is to identify new potential drug targets for immuno-oncology. His work involves a better understanding of the immune cell infiltrate in human solid tumors using flow cytometry and whole transcriptome approaches.
