Godwin Asumugha trained as Agricultural Economist, Research Scientist at National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI) Nigeria since 1988 and rose to position of Director of Research in 2015. Consultant Economist to

  • IITA/FAO Project on Gender Impacts of Small Farmers Commercialization in Nigeria, 2002.
  • USAID/IITA/UNIDO Project on Opportunities in industrial cassava market in Nigeria, 2003
  • IITA/USAID/SPDC Cassava Enterprise Development Project in Nigeria - 2005 to 2009
  • USAID-IITA MARKETS – 2009/2010
  • Regional Consultant CORAF/WECARD on Staple Crops Programme – 2010.
  • IFPRI HarvestPlus/NRCRI joint program for biofortified cassava in Nigeria 2011. 
  • Led the IFAD Yam Socio-economic project at NRCRI, 2006-2008.
  • Appointed Director of Gender Institute, 2004 Session in Dakar Senegal by CODESRIA. 

Currently leading the NRCRI WAAPP Project, IFAD-IITA HQCF Value Chain Project in NRCRI and BMGF/IITA CMS Project in Southern Nigeria & NRCRI BASICS Team member. 

A Visiting Scientist to IITA Partnership for Delivery (P4D) Directorate. Godwin is a Member of  International Society for Tropical Root Crops, currently Deputy Editor ISTRC-AB, Agricultural Society of Nigeria (Until 2010, Editor-In-Chief & Ist Vice President, 2011), International Association of Agricultural Economists. Has over 120 publications of which 60 are Journals. Married to Dr Mrs. Victoria Asumugha, a University Lecturer and blessed with 3 children.
